I think the Kane and Lynch series for me will always be a mixed bag. The demo didn’t sell me on the game, nor did it steer me away. It adds intensity and immersion, but hurt my brain at the same time. Like I said, some will enjoy it and some will hate it. I actually felt myself getting a headache even just after ten minutes. The problem for me, though, was the shakiness, especially when running. The camera is something that is sure to be met with mixed reviews. I had enemies multiple times in my cross hairs, and yet they somehow evaded my bullets. The poor hit detection rears its ugly face once agian. Enemies sometimes die from a single shot, or take on an entire clip of ammunition, something that can be frustrating. We’re not sure why he has to get there, but he just does.
He, along with Kane, are fighting through waves of police officers preventing them from getting to an appartment Lynch needs to get to. Throughout the roughly ten minute singleplayer demo, you control Lynch for the first time in the series. The story seems to be solid from what was teased. If the story was as engaging as the first, and the gameplay was tweaked, we’d be in business. It is the sequel to Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.

I was able to snag a demo code for Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days before it goes public in a few weeks, courtesy of 1up.com. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a 2010 third-person shooter video game developed by IO Interactive, published by Square Enixs European subsidiary for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I do have a soft spot for it, though, and always figured that if and when a sequal was released, many of the problems of the first game would not be passed on to its successor. On the other hand, the gameplay is broken, with laugable hit detection. The story is great, as are the characters and voice acting. Kane and Lynch is one of those games where I’m not sure if I love or hate it.
